Looking To Replace My Broken Zee
On January 11, 2005, a woman plunged an Oldsmobile into my '83 ZX, and into my plans I had for this car. Interior was already out and recovered, engine was rebuilt and in three weeks she was in line for a yellow and black paint job. But this woman changed all my blood sweat and now tears in about 1.5 seconds. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE A STRAIGHT BODY 81-83 ZX NON-TURBO, WITH T-TOPS MINUS MOTOR AND 5-SPEED TRANNY IS IN THE GA AREA AT A GOOD PRICE? I got to have a home for my rebuilt engine and this room full of recovered interior. This was frustrating, since this is my 3rd ZEE, second one that was totalled, neither my fault. I already had a parts car, NOW I HAVE TWO! Thanks for your help.!

pardon me for asking but how did she total your car with all yor stuff out of it?
finding a super condition 280 zx non turbo body with shot drive train is rare since a running engine is pretty easy to pick up
you may actually have to buy a decent running 280 zx and then part out the OLD drive train and interior trim which actually might be cost effective for you.

When they figure whether a car is totalled, they estimate the damage, and if the damage is 65% of the value of the car, they consider it a total. Then they proceeded to offer me $1000, which is standard for a car older than an "85. Of course, it tucked my wheel back in the wheel well, bent several parts and bent most importantly, the frame. I told the adjuster that I had the interior out and completely restored, sitting in my spare room, waiting for a paint job. She gave me the "I'll see if I can get him to go a little higher line", so I told her don't call me back until you have me a check for $2500. She called Friday and I got the check. I have found a car that runs for about $800, and plan to get it this weekend. And intend to keep my car as a parts car, and ditch the '82 hardtop parts car I have now. But the reason they totalled it, is the cost to pull the parts car frame and put it in my car runs about $2k labor, and for a lot less than that, I get a straight body car.
